‘East Meets West’ is a classical style armchair upholstered with a custom design pattern that is digitally-printed on organic cotton textile. The chair combines traditional artisan craft with modern technology and aesthetic. The fabric pattern focuses on cultural roots as a topic, synthesis of East and West, a fusion of Asian, European and American mood. The final result is full of symbolic value and falls somewhere between a self-portrait and a cultural declaration. The project is an artistic collaboration between Taiwanese-American designer Ivy Chuang, and Italian furniture brand, Savio Firmino.
